Casual Sunday

Had a casual Sunday today. Went to work at 12...finished at 2 :D so I decided that instead of going home, I'll go have a look in town.
I like to go to town on Sundays or Mondays as it's not very busy then. But I ended up not buying anything...I did book myself into At One Day Spa though for a pedicure on Tuesday :)

This is the outfit I went for though. We had 2 days of rain and now it's sunny again, so the sunglasses came out :)

34 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Can't believe I'm almost 8 months pregnant :O and I'm still working :D not for long though obviously, I've got 7 shifts left I think...I can't be sure though. And I had some good news the other day. Apparently I am still eligible for holiday hours even on maternity leave, so I have about 6 weeks of paid holiday. I think I'm just going to use the hours to top up my weekly pay, so maybe have like 20 until they run out :) But I think that's really awesome, I mean I can use all the extra pounds I can get...in my wallet obviously, not on the waistline :D

Anyway...here is the 34 week update.
I look rough, there was a boat race on today on the canal, and since I work by the canal, we were expecting to be really busy. Also we opened at 9 rather than the usual 11 so I actually went to work at 8am :S
And I took the photos before that, so it's really early....I had to have my coffee while doing my make-up...and I do my make up in the bathroom, so in reality I had my coffee in the toilet :D

I'm wearing my Michael Kors jeans....not maternity. They are fine for standing up, I do have to undo the button when I sit down though :D

How far along : 34 weeks

Gender : Boy

Total weight gain : Gained half a pound this week. I am meant to be gaining half a pound to a pounds each week now. And if I am right then, at the end of the pregnancy I will have gained a healthy 25 pounds or so :) which is completely acceptable. Also...I don't know if I've mentioned this, but it's my birthday at the end of September and I'm going to be 26 :O ... So I'm really hoping that since I haven't gained any excess weight, I'm going to be pretty much in shape for the celebration. Also I think I might start extracting around 6 weeks after the birth, so D can help with the feedings, which means, that maybe we can leave the baby with a sitter for a few hours and go out for the first time after the birth :) But I guess I'll just see how it goes...no point making plans yet.

Cravings : Chocolate...WHYYYYYYYYY? why does it have to be something unhealthy :D why can't it be oranges and apples or something:D anyway, I'm trying to be as good as possible, but I have to have a bit of chocolate at least every day.

Sleep: I have to turn a lot, because I do get weird pains now, when I stay in the same position for too long. Then there is leg cramps :D they wake me up...I wake up...I realise I need to pee...I pee...I try to find a comfortable position...I find it....2 hours later....not comfortable, another leg cramp, need to pee again :D But I guess that's all normal, it's just slightly annoying. Then again after 6 am I am usually able to sleep for at least 4-6 hours straight, given no one distracts me. Sometimes D gets up earlier than me for work, so when I do have a day off I take up the whole bed and sleep until 1 pm :D

Stretch marks : That mark I found last week, did turn out to be just a mark from sleeping :D But I have been feeling this stretching pain just above my belly button. At least that's what I think it is. It really does hurt though. On the good note the nerve pains I had in my back have gone, so I guess I walked that one off :D

Movement : Big Big movement. He has actually been pretty quiet today, and left me to it :D Most of the day he just sleeps I guess. But I can feel something poking out on my right hand side...it might be an arm or a leg, I know it's a limb because when I gently push on it, he either pokes back or moves it away :) I've got my midwife appointment on Monday, so I'll ask the midwife what position he is in. Oh also...there are a lot of kicks in very close proximity of my bladder :D so I am actually scared that this will be the week...where I piss myself :D
I try to keep it under control by going to the toilet as often as I can, but sometimes at work I just don't...I really hope it doesn't happen at work :D maybe I should start carrying spare trousers on me...or start wearing tena lady :D

Signs of labour: I don't think I have anything happening. I do feel bigger and I do feel like I am getting more ready emotionally, but no I don't really know what to look for, so...

Things for the baby: Next Saturday I am having a few girls over for a baby shower :) So I'm sure I will get a few things from there. Also D decided to do a big Mothercare order for diapers and I think it was a top and tail bowl, and a sleeping bag...or a swaddle? I can't remember what he told me :D The delivery is not here yet, so I'll find out once it gets here. Oh if I'm not mistaken, he got a fan that attached to either the bed or pram, which will probably be pretty useful :) If not for the baby...for me :D maybe even take it to the hospital for the labour...I think that would be pretty good :)

Thoughts : Like I mentioned...I think I'm getting more ready now emotionally. I am amazed at how well my hormones have been though, throughout the pregnancy...I don't think I've turned into an emotional wreck or anything. I think it's thanks to the fact that I've actually managed to keep my life pretty much unchanged. I still work, I go out with my friends...and also D is pretty unemotional most of the times :D so it's kept me in tact. Then again...maybe I should've had made more changes to my life, because it's definitely(I only recently learnt how to spell that word, I'm quite proud of myself :D) going to change...BIG TIME.
But it's exciting...I mean I literally can't wait for him to be here.

Preparations : I need to start packing the hospital bags about now time. So I need to get some things I will need for it. Like breast pads and maternity pads, also some slip-on slippers and a large t-shirt for labour. I need to get some underwear, because mine just will not fit the maternity pads :D And then pack the toiletries bag and have it ready, so I don't have to think about it when the time comes.

Anyway, I am aware that we are still pretty unprepared for all of this...but can you ever be prepared enough...I don't think so. At the moment I think we are actually doing pretty good...I'm very proud of us :D

Weekly Eats

It has been one weird week. One half of it I can't be bothered to do anything, the other half I'm just all over it :D This only means the meals at the beginning of the week, where not that great :D But it got better...

And these are a few things I have been munching on this week.

On Tuesday we had another delivery from the Riverford Farm. This time I picked the things I wanted for it rather than getting the veg and fruit in season.
I also wanted to try the fresh apple juice, but D had done a Sainsbury's order, so we had loads of juice already. I will definitely try it one time though.

I ordered another batch of eggs, mushrooms, new potatoes, carrots, nectarines, cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes and also gooseberries.
I also really like their packaging. They just collect it and recycle it with the next visit.

Look at those beauties :D They still need a little bit of ripening, but nothing a few days on the windowsill can't fix :D I have been picking on them though so I don't think they will last long.

This is actually our dinner yesterday.

I did a big Tesco shop and found these funky Chorizo style burgers. Went bun less again, since we end up using only the 2-3 buns and then the rest just go mouldy. On the side I made a nice fresh salsa, with tomatoes and spring and red onions and olive oil, and some garlic fried mushrooms.

Also the potato wedges, I just seasoned them with this potato seasoning I get from the lithuanian shop (We always use it in Estonia and actually the writing on top is Estonian :D) and olive oil and lined them up on the oven tray like little soldiers, turning them every once in a while.

For dessert I made this amazing thing :D

Eaton mess, with blueberries and strawberries and a berry coulis. So good. But I might have put too much sugar in the cream as it was REALLY sweet :D I couldn't even finish this glass.

On a good note though, I had loads of berries left over, so I had some for breakfast with raspberry yogurt.

Tonight we had chilli chicken thighs with a fresh salad for dinner. Light and yummy.

And this is how the fruit tray looks now. It won't stay like that for long though, because now that the fruit is actually on the table and in reach, we eat quite a bit more I think.

I did have cheecky Solero ice-cream for a dessert though :) Think I deserved it after being so good with breakfast and dinner :D

And tomorrow we have our monthly date night. We want to go to this Italian place called Fumo, but they don't take any bookings for less than 7 people, so we're hoping we can get a table.
But if not, then we do have a booking in 2 other restaurants as well. San Carlo (which is really nice, also italian :D) or Malmaison, which is really good, but a bit further away from Fumo.

Anyway
Hope you enjoyed the post.

xoxo

Baby Shop

The Chicco co-sleeper got delivered yesterday...how exciting. We have already assembled it.
And this is how it looks :) This is with the side down, so it should be attached next to the bed. But there is still time, so at the moment, I'm still enjoying being able to roll out of bed :D

I know you're not meant to have toys and things in the bed at first, but it just looks nicer this way until little ''A'' comes :)

Also I forgot to mention, that I got these little leggings and trouser thingies the other day, when I got my new wallet/shoes and organiser.

How cute are they ?

I actually got them, because we have a lot of short bodies and onesies, and I know it's going to be summer still, but it's England. The weather changes so quickly, I thought we might need a few pants/trousers as well...you know...for the chilly summer evenings and also autumn weather.

I also got these scratch mittens. Mostly because everyone is saying I need them. I'm sure 2 pairs is enough?

(I forgot to take a picture, so this is a picture from the mothercare website :D )

And also this pram suit. D got this ages ago actually, but I don't think I've featured it on the blog. He took it out of the hiding, when we put up the bed, to see how the baby will fit :D

All of the things here are actually from Mothercare. I'm not a big fan of Mamas&Papas, because I just think it's super overpriced. Even their outlet store. The things are exactly the same as Mothercare, but for some reason twice as expensive. But that's just my opinion :)

And I might be doing another clothes shop from there, because we got a money off voucher with the co-sleeper :D

Can't wait for the little one to actually be in the bed, not Wolfie the husky :D And Giggy (hiding behind Wolfie) :D There is a story behind these stuffed dogs, I'm not just a weirdo who owns toys for no reason :D

This Feeling

This feeling I have been feeling lately is laziness. I don't know why, but I've been feeling really lazy for the past couple of days.

Usually the one thing that I just have to do is make the bedroom look nice and tidy, even if it means the drawer where I chuck everything is going to be messy in result. But for the last few days I have just chucked everything in the corner...I haven't made the bed (another thing I always do, and I do it my way, D doesn't do it right :D) and just left it the way it is. It looks pretty bad :D

And I also haven't really washed the dishes.
The dishes is the other thing I always do before bed, because I hate seeing them in the sink when I wake up. Call me weird, it's just how I am. And since I'm on the kitchen subject I also can't be bothered with the food. I love to cook, don't get me wrong, but I just can't be bothered at the moment. I don't even want to think what I want to eat, let alone cook it, so D has been in charge of the feedings for the two days.

I just feel really tired. My feet are tired and my brain is tired. I don't think or talk sense :D It's such a horrible phase, I just want to get over it.

So in hopes of getting some of my energy back, I decided to take a nice long bath. I don't usually take baths and when I do I always have a shower after as well. But I figured a bath will just get me in the mindset of cleanliness and calmness.
And you know what...it helped.

I got out tidied up the bedroom, did the dishes, made myself a nice cup of peppermint tea and a cheese ham sandwich and just felt so much better.
I guess sometimes you need something little bit extra to get yourself in the right mindset, and for me today it was the bath :)

What's your go to thing for getting out of a rut?
Comment below with your answers :)

A Day of Shopping

I actually managed to wake up at a decent time today..which for me means that I got out of bed before 12 :D And I also managed to get myself ready and out of the flat for a bit of shopping in less than an hour.

The weather has been so nice recently, so all I really needed to worry about was that I had comfortable flats, sunglasses and deodorant.
First I went to House of Frazer. They've got a sale on and I was in need of some slip on summer sandals, which I found.

These Dune ones. They were half price and so comfortable. Also I wanted slip on ones rather than sandals with clips and clasps, because I find it harder every day to bend down to put my shoes on :D

I was also in need of a new wallet/purse...so I bought this Biba one...It's not what I wanted, but it does it's job, because my old River Island one is ready to give up and all my cards kept falling out of it :D This Biba one has a zip all around, so I have to work hard to lose my cards with this one :D

And considering my latest pregnancy brain moments, I figured it's best to get an organiser :) I love this Paperchase one. I really like the colour, now I just need to remember to write my appointments in it...and when I do, then I need to remember to check it :D

After the house of Frazer I met up with my friend Marta and we had a Starbucks while sitting in the sun, and then had some lunch.

This is what I wore. It's not a full size picture obviously, but the dress comes just slightly above the knee with the bump (it used to be mid-length :D) and since it's a wrap dress it's so comfortable :)

The second picture is really foggy for some reason, but I only actually took these two photos ( usually I take a bunch and choose the best ones) I'm not sure if it's the mirror or I just had a shaky hand :D

Anyway, the sales are on, so go and spend some hard earned money girls :)

33 Weeks

According to my app my baby is now 43.7 cm in height and weighs about 2 kg. His brain is developing more distinct functions and is now capable of controlling breathing, digestive functions and body temperature. And his lungs are also almost completely ready for breathing on his own. He can now differentiate between day and night apparently...so he wakes up and is really active when I try to go to sleep on purpose :D ? good to know :D
And I am meant to be gaining a pound a week, out of which half will literally be the baby weight :)

Back in the toilet with these pictures...I figured out that the mirror comes off the wall, so for my pregnancy fashion post I put it in the bedroom, but I can't be bothered to do this every time. Pardon my attire as well :D clearly in pj's ...

And a little bumo comparison...The first picture is actually 24 week one, so it's not really 10 weeks difference, but still...what a difference :D

How far along : 33 weeks

Gender : Boy

Total weight gain : 19 pounds. I've found my appetite drop these days. Or is it because there is little to no room in my stomach, so I can only have small meals ? :D
Anyway I think that I've pretty much stayed in this weight for a few weeks now. Funny thing is that I've only been weighed 3 times by the doctor/midwife. Once at 6 weeks, then at 12 weeks and then at 28 weeks. I guess if you look healthy and your measurements add up, they don't really look at the weight....I don't know. Has anyone else had the same ?

Cravings : Chocolate and spice and everything nice....SUGAR. I really need to get it together :D then again I still manage to stick to 1 ice cream a day (2 if it's warm outside :D) Other than that I think I've stayed quite healthy. I like a lot of fruit and a lot of veg. The vegetable and fruit box that got delivered is empty...apart from a few potatoes...also the beets that I only just boiled yesterday, so I'll be eating them very soon. And fried potatoes...

Sleep: Sleep is good, but I do get an occasional leg cramp every now and then.

Stretch marks : Oh no...I think I found one on my boob today. Maybe it's just a mark from my top from sleeping, but I'm too scared to check now :D Then again if I have to have them somewhere I would rather have them on my boobs, as I don't really flash them that much. The one I think I found is not even on top of the boob, but rather under the nipple, so in reality no one really sees it :)

Movement : Loads and loads and all the time :D Sometimes I walk and he gives me a jab and I make a movement like I've been punched in the stomach, which basically I have, but no one has seen the punch :D

Signs of labour: The braxton hicks contractions seem to have disappeared. Or maybe I'm just more used to them now, so I don't notice them.

Things for the baby: Apart from the things we already had, I also bought this cute blanket. It's quite thick, so good to put on the floor for the baby to lie on :)

And yesterday we also finally ordered the co-sleeper. We got this one by Chicco and ordered it from Mothercare

Favourite Name: Same as last week :)

Thoughts : It's getting all too real now. I'm thinking once we get the pushchair as well, we are going to lose it :D Also I have to pack the hospital bags now I thinks, or that's what they say you should do. I need a bag though, because I don't have a bag big enough and small enough for that occasion...shopping trip me thinks. Also D booked us in for the parent education classes in the hospital...so we are going there on the 7th on July...I swear if he wouldn't have done it I would've just kept on forgetting until it was too late. And then there are all these sales that have just started...I'm trying really hard to keep myself away from them...I don't think I will last much longer. But that's about it...my head is pretty empty these days, or there is just too much in there and I can't organise any of my thoughts to write them down.

To sum this week up, I think me and D have both been pretty productive. Or ok D has been, I've just been a forgetful pregnant lady :D
Lets see what this week will bring :)

Summer Pregnancy Fashion

This post will hopefully show, how spending money on pregnancy clothes during summer is completely useless. And how you can very easily adjust the clothes you have already for them to fit you throughout your pregnancy. This way the items you end up during your pregnancy will live on to serve you after the birth as well :) And this way you don't have to find storage room for clothes that are unfit to wear once your little bundle of joy is here :)

1.
First thing first. I bought a pair of maternity jeans, because they are part of my work attire. I figured since I have to wear them there, they might as well be comfortable.
If I wouldn't have to wear jeans at work, I could get away with using a hair band/hair bubble with my pre-pregnancy jeans.
Since hair bands are stretchy they are perfect to add those extra cm's. Just tie them through the button hole and then use the loop to keep your the button closed.

I have featured my pregnancy jeans quite a few times already on my blog, so I won't add a picture. If you find that you just must have something maternity..go for the jeans :) And go for the classic blue colour that will work with everything :)

2.
Stretchy waist shorts - I like silky materials, because I can then either dress them down or dress them up depending on the occasion.
Casual Outfit
Shorts, tank top, flat sandals and accessories

Dressed up
Shorts, top, blazer, heeled sandals and accessories

I realise that when your feet are swollen the last thing you want to do is squeeze them in heeled sandals, but you can always try wedges - I find them much more comfortable and you can find them everywhere in the shops during the summer.
If you really can't do heel, funk your outfit up with some crazy flat sandals :) bows, diamantes, bling :)

3. Loose blouse -  I am a big fan of white blouses, because they go with anything. Dress it up, dress it down, it's so versatile.
You can also go for a colour during the summer. Just make sure you can use it with a lot of your outfits...It's all about the mix and match.

Go for a sleeveless one or a one with 3/4 or full sleeve.

A long sleeved shirt with a maxi skirt will give you a bohemian look that's totally IN this summer (and was for the past previous summers :D ) Finish the look with some bangles, nice sandals and a beach bag.

Or go for a more sophisticated look with some heels and a mid-length skirt (skirt - Pringle, blouse - h&m, shoes - zara) Bring the whole look in with a waist belt

4. The last look brings me to the next staple piece in my wardrobe - THE MAXI SKIRT
The only adjustment I've had to do wearing a maxi skirt and being pregnant, that before I would wear it at my waist...now that I don't have a waist, I wear it right below my boobs (empire waist).
Wearing it this way really accentuates the baby bump - be proud of it - show it off.  A-line skirts work wonders as well

Wear with a tank top for a casual summer look or a long sleeved blouse :)
My blouse doesn't actually button up, or shall I say button all the way down :D so I just tied it into a knot.

5. Short loose dress - Go for a single colour ( pick a basic one) This way you can change the look up easily with different accessories.

This Forever21 black dress with double straps is one of my recent buys (only 12 pounds). It has already become one of my favorites.

Flat sandals and laid back accessories for a Day look

Add some colour :) don't be shy

Heels and bling with a clutch bag for a summery date night

Don't go too short though, because having that baby bump will take even more inches off the dress. You don't want to end up showing your private parts to the world with a smallest gush of wind.

And you can always go for a lighter colour :) This dress is also from Forever21 and was about as much as the black one.

Casual look with a cardigan

Fancy it up with wedges and a blazer

Hello baby bump :D

6. Maxi dress - This is the piece in your wardrobe that will serve as a whole outfit. Just bring along a little cardigan for when the day turns to night. Not the little one with buttons though...don't flatter yourself...you can't wear everything that's not maternity :D it will look ridiculous with the buttons popping open.

Go for empire waist or just stretchy top part.

Why not add a leather jacket for when the garden party turns into a night out in the pub ( of course no alcohol for you...or me )

7. A Blazer with no buttons. The ones that are already tailored without will fit much better. They are just designed to fall the way your bump will peek out from the middle :)

This piece is so versatile. I have been wearing my River Island one all through my pregnancy and will continue to do so.

8. Cardigan - For summer I go for lighter colour, but go for whatever colour will work with the rest of your wardrobe. But remember those buttons if you do go for a tighter cut. I like them loose fit , just wear a fitting tank top underneath so the look wouldn't feel too bulky. We don't need to feel even more heavier than we already are :D

Add it to you casual outfits during the chillier summer nights or cover your sholders from the blazing sun.

9. Tank Tops and T-Shirts. In every colour :D I have about 20 of them and they have worked for me throughout those 7 months and will hopefully work for those last 2 as well. I do recommend buying the longer cut though as I've noticed that with the ones I bought pre-pregnancy my belly is peeking out from the bottom...

10. On top of all of the favorite pieces on the list there is always this one statement outfit  that you go back to when you just can't decide. This is different for everyone, and it is something that will either make you feel incredibly comfortable or sexy or summery.
If you don't think you've got one, think of the things you wear the most.
For me it's actually my shorts and lazer combo. It has worked for me in the past and it will work in the future because it's tried and tested.
So whenever I'm stuck with finding an outfit this is what I'll end up going for usually :)

Hope you got some inspiration to make your wardrobe work for you so you can spend those saved pounds you would've normally spent on maternity clothing on your little one.
I have to say that none of these pieces really were maternity, and I am actually 7 months and 2 weeks pregnant, so it is possible.

Let me know if you think I've missed anything :) And if you need any extra information about the looks :)

Bathroom Essentials

Yesterday was the day when I pretty much ran out of everything I need in the bathroom :D This rarely happens like that, but what it meant is that I had to go get all my everyday essentials in one go today. So off to Superdrug I went. I usually use Boots, but since my card still hasn't arrived I decided to get some points for my Superdrug Beauty card :D
The thing is, my wallet is super stupid :D and all my cards keep falling out, so when I got to the shop I actually couldn't find it, so could've just gone to Boots.
Anyway...they did have some pretty good deals on, so all in all I think I did pretty good.

On this occasion I had to get shampoo and conditioner, make-up wipes, face wash and also shower gel. And I also got a new deodorant, because the one I got a few days ago smells really funky, and the smell is really strong so I can smell it when I walk around and stuff. So whoever needs a deodorant...don't get the Sure one for sensitive skin, It's the pink one :D

I'm not really a person who would spend lots of money on everyday essentials. My hair is not that fussy, so I usually just go for the shampoo and conditioner that's on offer. I do go for different types though. So I use a shampoo that will be good for my scalp and conditioner that will do something for the actual hair, as you're not meant to put conditioner on your roots anyway. (not many people know this, but I studies salon business management with hairdressing for a year, so I managed to learn all the basics :))

I love this brand, but I don't usually go for it, because it's just a bit too expensive, and I wash my hair every other day, so I go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner in a month. But today they were on offer with 2 for 7pounds :) It actually is really good to my hair, it leaves them clean but soft, so I should start dishing out a bit more money on my hair care.

Also, I have been using the Nivea cleansing foam for my face. I really like the foam part...first of all the bottle is super convenient because I can use it with one hand. Second...it feels really gentle on my skin, but still manages to get my face make-up free and there is no third... :/
I went for the Simple brand this time. And It actually feels better than the Nivea one, because the foam is a bit more tense.

And I also got their facial wipes, as sometimes when I have a bit more make up on than the daily amount, I feel like it really helps to get the excess off first with wipes. And sometimes I'm just lazy, but don't want to go to bed with full make up.

The last thing I got, which is completely boring, but we all need it...shower gel. This is definitely something I don't buy by brand or anything other than the price and smell :D And this one smells extremely nice....COCONUT...love it :D

And these are my this months bathroom essentials.
Haven't ran out of toothpaste and don't think we will in a while, as we have about 4 different tubes of it :D don't know why. (I'm using the Arm&Hammer one at the moment)

Also I know this one has been a long one coming, but the pregnancy fashion post will be ready by tomorrow :) So subscribe to the blog to keep yourself updated :)
