Dining Room Update

Hello, Everyone :)
As you all know, we have moved into a new house, and even though we have most of the furniture, we still need quite a few things. So for the past few weeks I've been shopping for furniture and accessories and all the things that make a home a home. It has been so stressful. I don't want to end up with things that I won't like in a month, so I've been trying to think everything through 7 times :D
The most stressful of all the furniture shopping has been trying to find a dining table. We decided to go for the dark and light theme. But there has always been something about the sets I don't like. But finally I found the one I was completely happy with and D also liked. It arrived on Tuesday and we now have a functional dining room :) I'm not going to lie, there is quite a lot of things I still need for the room. But all in good time. This is the progress I've done so far...hope you like it :)

Before

After

The set consists of a walnut color extendable table with 6 cream chairs. I've only put together 4...I got tired :D And since I have replaced the potted purple flowers with a blue vase full of yellow tulips :) I love having my morning coffee there now while Oscar sits in his chair, we still need a high chair for him.
Another thing we need is a long shelf for all the little trinkets D has :S :D I just think it will break up the room a bit and make the long 8 compartment shelf look more cleaner. And then there will be 3 big picture frames with hopefully some pictures in them :D and some see through cream curtains. :) And that should be it...after these things have been done the dining room should be ready for some dinner parties :)

Hope you enjoyed the post everyone :)
Stay tuned

Le Quiche Recipe

Hello, Everyone :)
I made my famous quiche yesterday. I came up with the recipe when I was a vegetarian for a brief moment. I tend to go through phases in my life, where I decide that eating meat is cruel...so I stop. Usually something really shitty gets me back to meat eating. It's never a good piece of steak or a nice tender chicken breast. It's usually a shitty boiled cheese sausage :D or some dried up piece of pork :D Anyway, back to the quiche. It has one of my favourite food combinations in it, which is sun-dried tomatoes and goats cheese. I also use this amazing combo for my risotto :) and I do think that not every meal needs meat...Dan disagrees :D But he does actually enjoy this pie/quiche dish.
Everything that was going to go wrong with it went wrong though yesterday :D My head was clearly not screwed on properly, so I made silly silly mistakes. The taste was still the same great taste that I always get though, which showes that it's never about the appearance when it comes to food.

This is how I had a slice today for lunch. With a nice spinach and lettuce salad along side with tomato and cucumber and avocado. Because it is quite a rich pie dish, despite the fact that it's vegetarian, I always have it with salad.

So yesterday, something happened, that has never happened to me before. I left the dough in the oven for too long, after bar baking it, that it set into an upwards bolw :D Dan had a great idea of me turning it over and instead of slowly doing it I flipped it with a knife, so it cracked into a hundred pieces. :D I had to put it back like a puzzle :D

Panic averted, I decided I'll make do with what I've got :D So I pan fried the leeks, tomatoes, and mushrooms. What I would usually do is add the goats cheese at this point, and let it melt into the mix. But because the dough was cracked I decided that the more egg that goes to the bottom and into the cracks the better :D

So I added the goats cheese right at the end. I used 3 eggs and a table spoon full of sour cream for the filling mix. And about 100 grams on goats cheese crumbled on top.

And then I obviously forgot that I usually grate some cheddar into the egg mix as well, so I just sprinkled it on top :D

AND in the end, the cracked base moulded itself together with the egg and all the juice goodness from the vegetables and tomatoes, and it turned out pretty much just the same as always :)

If you too enjoy a good vegetarian hearty meal, then why don't you try this one out :)

Recipe

I sheet of short crust pastry (you can always make your own, but I have a baby and no kitchen appliances :D)
100 grams of goats cheese
350g of sundried tomatoes
3 small leeks
about 100 grams of sliced cup mushrooms

Pre-heat the oven to 200'C and pre bake the dough. Let it rest and if it has risen, taking it out of the oven and pushing it back down will help :D
Fry all the ingredient in a pan until the leeks and mushrooms are cooked. And add the goats cheese (or don't, you  can always sprinkle it on top like I did yesterday)
Divide the mix evenly on the dough.
Mix 3 eggs and a bit of milk or sour cream (I use sour cream as I like it more thick) and cheddar (any cheese will probably do, and you don't have to add any) and poor the whole thing on top of the veggie mix :)
Put the whole thing back in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until ready (once the egg is cooked) and VOILA.

Hope you enjoyed the post. And let me know once you've tried the recipe. Did you like it or hate it? :)
Stay tuned

Little Walks

Good Afternoon, everyone :)
The weather here has been surprisingly beautiful these days, which prompted me and my friend to get off our asses and go for a nice walk. Moving out of the city centre was the best decision we made. I love how there are 3 massive parks around my house, and even if I go to the local high street, it's just so different. People are nice and not rude. No one is trying to walk through you, and when I look up I can actually see the sky rather than a high building :D Even Oscar likes to look around now. Turn his head towards the bird noises and just enjoy the walk :)

We decided to take a trip to the local fitness centre to find out about the swimming pools, so going swimming will be in the future plans :) and then we went for a coffee just across the road. It looked quite a quirky and fun place, and it had a really good selection of healthy sandwiches and salads. The one funny part of the place was that it was just full of mothers with their babies :D There were 6 tables and by the time we left about 5 babies :D It looked like a nursery :D I even asked the owner why there were so many babies, but he just said ''I guess they like it here'' :D Anyway, it was slightly weird :D Good coffee though.

Sorry about the picture overflow :D
Hope you enjoyed the post :) And if you live in Harborne area in Birmingham, then go check out Boo Boo Coffee :) Especially when you have kids, because, you know, they like it there :D

I will be sharing my famous goats cheese and sundried tomato quiche recipe tomorrow.
So stay tuned ;)

Little Beauty Haul

Good Evening, Everyone

I have actually managed to get my hands on some new make up and tools recently. So I thought I'd give you guys a little overview and mini reviews on the products that I have purchased :) I already did a separate post on the Revlon Photoready products so I won't be talking about them again. Hope you enjoy the post and find something to try out yourself :)

Firstly and foremostly I got these Zoeva brushes. I'm not going to lie, they have ended up in my online shopping basket a few too many times, and every time I have not been able to justify getting them. But I figured that I will be able to use them on my make up course, that is meant to start in May?? :D I need to double check that. So I got them. And I'm so happy with my buy. They are amazingly soft, firm, silky and beautiful. My favorite one so far is the silk finish brush, that I use to apply my foundation. The powder brush is slightly too airy to apply compact powders but probably perfect for loose powder. And the rest of the brushed I'm yet to try out :D But I'm sure they will not disappoint. I got this set of face and eye brushes with the bag from the Beautybay website.

All the products I've gotten from either Boots or Superdrug

Face products

You already know about the disappointment the Revlon products were. But all the rest of these are pretty darn amazing for what they cost me :)
I have used the Rimmel Stay Matte powder for years and I still keep going back for it every time. So that is definitely worth every penny. To be honest it only costs like a few pennies anyway :D
The Collection Lasting Perfection ultimate wear concealer is a new buy for me. I usually steer away from this company, but I've heard so many good things about this concealer that I decided to try it out myself. The cover is amazing and it really does stay on for hours. You obviously have to set it with a powder, but it does what it says it will do.
And lastly by far my favorite bb/cc cream so far. Bourjois 123 perfect CC cream. I absolutely love this. On days when you just need a quick cover and fix, this is what I will grab for from now on. It leaves your skin smooth and not oily or greasy and covers all the blemishes and redness. I apply it with my fingers just in my t-zone and blend it out. AAAAMAzing

Lip Products

The swatches are the other way around :S

I have a big love for purple lip colours. I just think they look good on me and I think purple is less glam as red but not less dramatic. On the other hand I think a purple lip is much easier to dress down than a red lip. Anyway, I'll cut right to the point. This Revlon Colorstay Moisture stain in the color 005 Parisian Passion is perfect. It's just a really long stay lip gloss?stain? but it's not cakey. It just stays on in a glossy purpley heavenly color and I don't even have to reapply after hours. I mean I don't think you can ask much more from a lippy :D
Bourjois rouge edition velvet in the color 02. Not a big fan of this one. It is much more red than I was hoping it would be. I definitely don't think it's a every day color. But it is long lasting and really velvety and matte that it will be perfect for a date night lip :)
Collection Galactica lip butter in color 1 pink rush. I only picked this up because it was under 2 pounds, and I was already by the counter getting that concealer. I do find it a bit too metallic though. On the other hand it is very buttery and for a lip butter stays on for a good while. Definitely not kiss proof, as Oscar had some very pink cheeks :D
MUA lip liners. I picked these up for a pounds each, thinking you can never have too many lip liners, but I'm not a big fan. The colors are not very pigmented so it takes a good strong push to get the line clear. But for a pound I don't expect miracles :)

Eye Products

Seventeen Falsify HD mascara. This is a very hyped about mascara. But I'm not a fan. You need a good few coatings of it to actually make a dramatic change in the look of you lashies, and it kind of powders off under your eyes :(  Not going to buy it again, but won't be hiding it in the drawer either.
Must me honest with you guys. I actually thought this MUA eye liner was a lip liner when I bought it :D but the same story here. It's not very pigmented and takes a harsh hand to get it on the lid. Will probably try using it as a lipliner still :D As I don't want to be pushing it on my eyelids.

And this is all for my little beauty haul post.
Hoped you found some products to try out yourself.

Cupcake Heaven

Good Evening, Everyone :)
If you have been following my blog for a while now, you will know that every month that Oscar turns one month older we like to celebrate with a cake or some cupcakes or something sweet that you can stick a candle in :D
This time I decided to challenge myself with some cupcakes. And I think I completely succeeded :) I got the recipe from Anna Saccone's blog . She made new years mimosa cupcakes and I decided to change the recipe a bit as we didn't have any left over champagne and D doesn't like ginger. So I decided to do Chocolate and orange cupcakes :) The only change really I made was that I added chocolate chips and left out the ginger ale/champagne...I might have added a bit extra orange juice instead to make up for the liquid loss.

Oscar didn't get to eat any which is probably why he looks so disappointed :D

It was a messy affair :D

Obviously me being me, I forgot something. Which in cupcakes case was the chocolate chips. I added 4 of them in each cupcake once I had already divided the batter :)

The mess and hard work was totally worth it, when I saw these bad boys rise and crisp up :)

And they didn't end up looking half bad. I got the piping bag and setfrom TkMax for 3 pounds. But I think I might get bigger end parts, as I had to add quite a few layers to get it to the level it is :D I also added a bit of orange food coloring gel to the frosting that was left over, which explains the two colors.

All in all they turned out so good. What I will say is that next time I will definitely half all the ingredients, as there were way too many of them. I took loads to my friend today, but we are not big cake eaters, so I'm afraid the leftover ones will get hard in the fridge.
Another thing I found weird about the recipe was that it only uses egg whites and no jokes. Suffle style :D

Hope you enjoyed the post, you guys :)
And get baking :)

Valentines Day Evening

Hello, Everyone :)
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day weather you celebrated with friends or that special someone. Or maybe you just had a nice Saturday :D
My Valentines Day was actually pretty awsome. I managed to go shopping...alone...with no baby :D And when I came back I had flowers waiting and D was preparing to cook dinner :) He cooked a whole 3 course meal and I have to say...I was stuffed. I kind of feel bad though, as I didn't even get him a card hahaha. But I did get loads of things for our home in the shops so I make our home feel like a home and he can do all the romantic and nice things for me...I think that sounds fair :D Also I know I promised a make up and outfit post, but I ended up wearing very minimal make up and leggings with a cardigan so I thought I'll give you little out takes from my evening instead.
Enough of the chatty chat now though. Here are some pictures from the night :)

My lovely flowers and a picture of things we have in common. I keep making jokes about how we have absolutely NOTHING in common. But a good man like he is, he found some. It's mostly food we both like...apparently he was hungry when ordering the picture :D I also got this in a card form :)

The starters were these potato topped creamy mussels. It's a French dish that D keeps talking about. I actually bought these from Marks&Spencer a few days before and was really excited to show D what I had found. He wasn't too happy though, because he was going to get them for Valentines Day:D They were pretty good though, and they came in these little shells :) Apparently this is how they always serve this dish in France

And for mains we had vegetables and potatoes with a slow roasted pork belly. Yumm.

We had to have a little break before we had our dessert, which was a chocolate cake pot and I completely forgot to take a photo before I devoured the whole thing.
You might also see that my red wine is in a champagne flute, because once again I forgot to buy wine glasses :D
All in all it was a really, really good day and evening and even Oscar decided to get out of his grumpy teething mood, which made it that much greater.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed the post :)
Stay tuned

Revlon Photoready New Product Review

Hello, Everyone :)

I'll start off by saying these product are not completely new to the range but they are new and improved. So basically the lovely people in Revlon, have taken a good and loved product and made it even better and more lovable. (links below) Or have they?

I'll start with the primer. I find that even though it's meant to be anti shine, it actually makes my skin more shiny and I also found that it just left a greasy finish rather than that smooth surface most other primers I have tried. I was actually only impressed with the sponge it came with. It reminds me of the Beautyblender so I might start using it to apply foundation.
This primer costs 6.99 at the moment in Boots. Because it's 3 pounds off. They also have an offer 3 for 2 across all Revlon products. I have to admit though, that if you are looking for an affordable primer...don't get it. Or maybe get it, because it is quite cheap at the moment and try it out yourself. I will honestly say I will be putting it at the bottom of my drawer and will probably never use it again.

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Effect foundation. 9.99 which includes the 3 pound off discount for new products. I got the shade 001 Ivory. The one good thing I found about this is that it completely matched my skintone...I'm a bit of a vampire lately :D But it streaks and I'm not quite sure if it was because of the greasy primer or because of what it is itself, but it does not last. I can definitely not apply it with my buffer brush, so beautyblender all the way with this one. The other good thing is that it looks pretty good with a flash (the Estee Lauder double wear looks really bad with a flash) and it's quite buildable. So if you are looking for a foundation for some good pictures, then this will be perfect. But don't expect it to last with the primer. And I definitely need to set it with a powder, which I would do anyway to prevent creasing.

All in all I was pretty disappointed with these 2 products and it makes me sad. If you have been following me for a while you will know Revlon is my favourite drugstore brand, and I was really exited to try these out and rave about them to you guys....that didn't happen :D
On a bit of a more positive note. It was 3 for 2 on the Revlon products so I picked up a nice lipstain. I will do a post about it tomorrow alongside with my Valentines Day outfit (don't expect fireworks, we are staying home :D) and make up :)

Stay tuned, you guys :)

Oversized T-Shirt Obsession (River Island Thursday)

Hello, Everyone :)

I have been browsing the new season collection from the high street for a good few days now, and the one thing I have come slightly obsessed with is the oversized T-Shirt. I'm not quite sure why this item has moulded itself on my brain and just won't go away, but it has. So I'm going to feed my shopping bulimia here, by giving you guys a little fashion post on how I would style the T-Shirt for different occasions :) The good thing about the shirts is that they are all new season, so if you too would like to purchase them there is only a slight chance any of them will be already sold out :) And even then, the shops are more likely to restock it if it has so early into the new season. All these items are from River Island. One of the reason is that the brand is a high street brand and it's super affordable. Another reason is that I really do like that store this season. I didn't really find anything in there for Winter season, but Spring/Summer is a completely different story. I like it...I like it a lot :D
Hope you enjoy the post and get some inspiration as well :)

White&Black with a pop of blue
I am a sucker when it comes to black clothing. I will literally wear black all summer long and autumn and winter and spring :D It's just my thing. I LOVE black clothes. But I also love the combination of white and black. I just think the looks are clean and nice and you can go casual/fancy very easily. But since it is springtime very very soon, then I've added a little bit of colour.

You guys, I actually think I have found my spring/summer wardrobe. I'll be honest, with a teething, grumpy baby, I have been on this post for days now, only finding a few seconds during my awake hours to work on it :D But I love every single piece in this post. BUT the best part of all these items are that you can mix and match ALLLLLL OF THEM with each other, I mean fun for days, guys :D

Frenchy Chicky

I am absolutely slightly, kind of obsessed with stripes and I really don't think I have enough stripy clothes (saying this wearing a stripy sweater :D) And I do think Paris is always a good idea....unfortunately I have never actually made it to Paris. I will tuck the front part of the T-shirt in, as I would do with most oversized T-shirt....otherwise I will end up looking like Will I AM. But I love the frenchy look of this whole outfit. I know the hat and the bag kind of look like cheap Chanel knock offs, but I think they look so alive in a sense they look so fake Chanel, that no one would actually mind. I have a pet hate for fake real merchandise...you know the Louis bag that looks like one...but it's not. And cat eye sunglasses are so my thing. And I will get into wearing hats...All these promises :D

Little Grunge

Ok. I must admit, that this look looks more like autumn than spring, but why not wear boots into spring time...I think it's ok. Love the fringed bag. I mean it was all in and in fashion about 5 years ago, but I'm glad it's back. River Island does quite a few fringed bags this season and they stay in between the 30-60 pounds price range...affordable, me thinks. And round sunglasses, so retro. What makes this look a bit grunge though is definitely the leather peep toe zippered boots with the oversized floppy hat. Maybe with the sunglasses and everything you will end up looking a bit like Ozzy Osborne, but I mean, if you can pull it off, then more power to you. I think I could :D

Le Fuf

Why not mix stripes with polka dots...I mean rebel away :D Love these shoes, these are actually quite pricey at 60 pounds but there are similar ones in www.boohoo.com that are priced at only 35 pounds. And they have tassels :D anyway. Like casual ripped jeans with heels. but also this look with some simple gold or black sandals and I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT A LOT....Dumb and Dumber reference there for you...kind of...

Sping Blues

All black, everything black...oh wait...no...there is blue. I think blue is my third favorite color after black and white. And I mean, how well does it go...really well. the dark grey T-Shirt and studded sandals. Those see through sunglasses and a pop of blue with the small bowler bag.
So the hat...I'm not quite sure about this :D but since I did promise I will start wearing hats this season, I thought I'll just throw that one in there and see how I will like it at the end of the day. I'm still not too sure...maybe it's the color. It's too MAUVE...weird color, unless it's on the dentist waiting room wall.
I can definitely see myself getting obsessed with the slip on sandals though, like I did with the Dune brown ones last summer.

NO WAY ROSE

So this is the shirt I first saw and was like...please...give me. I love rose gold. It's my forth favorite color after white black and blue...ok...sorry :D But no I really do love rose gold. And yes, lets style it down by adding it to a slouchy greay T-Shirt. And lets just keep it simple here because the shirt itself is so awsome. Anyway I would add the oversized sunglasses and probably not these sneaker, but I just loved them so much and just wanted to put them somewhere...so there. There they are :D I would probably wear this look with some black sandals instead and add a big black leather bag. maybe if it gets colder in the night time I could throw on a black leather jacket and look like a total bad ass.

But I do hope you enjoyed the post. Maybe the love affair for the oversized T-Shirt started for you as well. Maybe not. Maybe you're thinking whatever, Meril. But I like it. And I think all these looks are totes mommy/baby friendly, which does make a difference these days.

Stay tuned everyone.
I'll do a Revlon Photoready product review tomorrow :)
xoxo

I'm sorry I haven't linked them to the website, but with all the madness I just wanted to get the post up. And I think River Island website is pretty easy to navigate :)

Hello, Everyone :)
Just a little update on the little munchkin who is just such a joy these days. It seems like he is hitting all the milestones at the same time, I can't keep up :D So my phone has been constantly on my side so I wouldn't miss them. And I thought it would be a cute post to do :) If you are not interested in baby photos then look away NOW :D

He is going to be 6 months old in 10 days :)

Latest Eats

Hello, Everyone :)
I started writing this post and uploaded the pictures and realised, most of my food is pretty orange :D Lately...not always, but it seems like I have a lot of orange and yellow food. It's all been very delicious though. The one common thing with most of these meals has been avocado...I feel like I'm a bit obsessed with avocados at the moment and I've been really lucky to get get the just ripe ones. I also blended some up with some broccoli and cauliflower for Oscar and even he seemed to enjoy it. He loves food though...it takes him one mouthful to get use to it, but then he really gets into it and can't get enough...I need to start putting some portion control into place with him :D With Oscars food I tend to use Ellas Kitchen or Hipp Organic pouches of fruit/joghurt for breakfast and then I cook something myself for him for dinner :)

Leftover chilli chicken stir fry with cous cous and avocado
Toast with ham, avocado, tomato and poached egg
Chicken, cous cous, corn, avocado and feta cheese
Sweet potato fries, corn, mushrooms and onions, guacamole and a bunless beef burger with cheese and bacon ...yummm
Salmon and salad with avocado, pepper and lettuce, potato wedges and corn :) and some tomatoes I didn't actually eat :D
These meals all look the same :D I think I'm in a food rot :D hahah ... anyway, they were all still really delicios, but I do think I need to mix it up a bit :)

Stay tuned everyone :)

Morning and Night Time Skincare Routine

Hello, Everyone :)
After a lifetime (it felt like it) of not buying anything for myself or really not even doing anything for myself, my skin went and broke out in a way only a teenagers could :D SO I decided to treat myself to some new skincare products. The Simple kind to skin, didn't do the trick any more.
I had heard many good things about Vichy brand so I decided to give it a try. The price range is somewhere in the middle of high street and high end products. I found them all 10% off on this website. The funny part of it is, that I put a completely wrong address as a delivery address, it consisted of my new address, my old one and my billing address :D The Escentual team was too efficient in packing and dispatching it, that when I finally realised 2 hours later, it was already too late.

I thought I'd have to wait for 3 weeks until the package goes back to the shop and they can send it to my right address, but the lovely people in my local post office figured it out all by themselves, they changed the postcode and sent it to me :) I got it 5 days after I ordered it :) And let me tell you, I was super happy, as I did pay quite a bit of money for all of these products.

Enough of the chit chat. This is the skincare routine I do now every morning and night without fail, and already after 5 days I can see a big improvement and not just with breakouts but with my skin texture  as well. It just seems so much more elastic and soft and luminous :) I chose the Vichy Normaderm range for the cleansing as it's perfect for skin prone to blemishes and spots :) And a night time detox cream and a daytime illuminating cream :) I'll leave the links for all of these products down below :)

Morning:
I tend to have my shower in the morning now, which means I do the face washing in the shower. But for you guys I skipped that part today so I can show what I do :)

I'm sorry about the pervy face :D
I brush my teeth and then wet my face. I use the Normaderm 3 in 1 cleanser to wash my face. It has little tiny particals in the creme, which makes it also a daily scrub. The scrubbing action is super gentle though :)

And then I wash it off and dab my face dry with a clean towel.

I then apply the Normaderm pore-tightening lotion with cotton wool in upwards motion so not to drag my skin down :)

I let it dry off for a bit, until I apply the cream

This was meant to be a cinemgraph, but it's not working :(
I use the Vichy Idealia illuminating cream. And I would compare it with the Estee Lauder Idealist cream, but it's just fraction of the price at around 20 pounds :)
It leaves my skin so nice, moisturised and soft. Before I put my make up on, I leave the cream on my face for at least 20 minutes...I just feel if I do it any sooner, I just brush the cream off.

And that is it for the morning. I do wear a bit more make up these days just because my skin looks awful to me, but I try to let my skin rest a couple of days a week...the days when I don't have anywhere to go :D

Evening:
This is when I still use my Simple product. I rub the cream cleanser on my dry face and around the eyes, to get the make up off, I then use a hot damp towel to get the product off my face. I leave the towel on my face for a few moment to get the pores open and then rub off the make up :)

I then wet my face and to get the pores squecky clean, I use the Normaderm wash (no picture...it looks the same as in the morning picture...I mean how many pictures of my face can you have in one post :D...I dab my face dry with a clean towel and then I don't use the toner :D I just think the detox cream needs to get IN MY PORES :D please correct me if I'm wrong in this  :)

I then apply the Normaderm Night Detox cream.

And I don't tend to go straight to bed after the night time cleansing, which is good I think, as if I would bury my face in the pillow right after applying the cream it will just end up in my pillow :D

And that is it...my morning and night time skincare routine.
Hope you enjoyed the post, If you are interested in seeing what I have been eating lately, come back tomorrow :)
Stay tuned, everyone
