Baby Questions!???

As new parents, me and D are constantly on the Internet checking every single thing and then checking it twice and and third time and then discarding everything we've just read and kind of just go with our instincts instead :D

It's amazing how much information there is out there. But in the end I've come to realise, that if I need to find something, it will be out there in every single form. One website will tell you one thing and the other thing will tell you another...I just can't keep up. So lately I have actually stopped getting flustered and instead I've tried to find my own way. I try to interpret his cries to figure out what he needs/wants and just going with my mother instincts. I think what they say it's true...you do just know sometimes and it's an amazing feeling when you get it right :D But let's be honest, sometimes you get it wrong, but it's fine. I guess if you start the day out with one child and end it with one (the same one :D) then you've probably done an alright job :)
But there are still questions I need answers to. But they are more on the lighter side of seriousness #notascrazy :D

First one is the PLAY GYM!????
Oscar is getting to the point where he is awake much more during the day, and thus needs more stimulation. So instead of keeping him in the swing all the time, we figured a play gym will be a great place for him. It's also great for tummy time, which we are doing on 3 layered blankets at the moment, because we have laminate flooring :D
I just don't know what to look for. I know Fisher-Price is really good, but then again I think Skip Hop play mats are much nicer in a sense they will not clash with the room so much, but still seem to have all the goodness that a play gym needs....I just don't know.
Any recommendations?? Is there even any point of getting one??

TOYS???
Little O is only a few weeks old and doesn't really grab any toys just yet. We have 3 by Lamaze, but he gets bored of just looking at them. The most favourite one at the moment is the Cloud B sheep on the go :D but I think it's more of our favourite, because the ocean sound just calms him down and puts him to sleep much faster...only downside...it is very calming and makes us sleepy as well :D
Is there any age appropriate toys we can get him right now, or should we just leave it. I don't want to keep him from developing all the necessary skills just because he hasn't had the right toys. Is that even possible??? I just don't know.

I think this sheep was made by rainbow pooping pink ponys...it is amazing :)
(I got mine from amazon and only paid about 20 pounds. It's about 35 on the high street)

BATH TIME???
This is the one I'm kind of not really worried about, but it would still be nice to know. We have a bath from Mamas&Papas, that is suitable from birth, and it really is great. The only thing is that the newborn insert thing is quite high up in some places and rather low in the others. So when his tummy is in the water...so are his ears. I don't think his ears should be in the water, but If I lift him higher up, his tummy will be out of the water. From my experience, if a part of my body is out of the bath, I'm cold. He seems content and happy, but I'm just scared he is cold even though the water is warm. Am I just over thinking it???

MEMORY???
Will he forget me if he sleeps for too long ??? Hahaha... I'm just kidding. I just ran out of questions. There will always be questions obviously, but I just can't think of any at the moment.
Comment below on what you think, and if you've had any crazy moments where you think you know nothing :)

And as always, stay tuned :)

Weekend

Good evening, everyone :)
I've already been shit at this trying to post every day this week thing :D I will get better though...I'm sure...maybe. The weekend just went by so fast I completely forgot.
The main thing that happened during those 2 days that I didn't manage to blog, was that we went to the botanical gardens :) And I've also started to breastfeed a lot more rather than pump, because I just hate it. It takes so long and it just feels that feeding is taking twice as much time as it should since I used to pump after every feed, sometimes even more often. I am using the nipple shield every time. Mostly because my nipples are still sore and not gotten use to all the activity and secondly O doesn't even know what a nipple is anymore :D
I tried to breastfeed him without the guard once and he kind of just gave me this look of ''what are you thinking woman putting this weird thing in my mouth'' :D So I'm going to stick with the guard. I don't think there is any medical reason why I shouldn't be using it, so I'm going to continue.
I don't actually remember what we did on Saturday :/ I don't think we did anything to be honest. I kind of remember feeling a bit ill. That feeling when you've got a sore neck and your skin hurts. And I was really scared that I was going to become ill and unable to take good care of O, but on Sunday I felt fine, so I guess it was just tiredness.

Anyway, here is a little picture update of the last few days :)

This is how I start my day now. Warm water with lemon, it's meant to help with digestion and balance out all the acids in your body :)

D and O stuck in gravel by the butterfly house in the botanical gardens

 My new favourite toy

Calm before the storm :D A second later he blew out his paci and started screaming :D
btw the sheep is a godsend. It has a soundbox in it for ocean and whale sounds :D and it really calms him down. I don't use it at night but I do use it now for his day time naps.

Tummy time. He's not a big fan, but it's good for him, because it helps get the gas out :)

I almost forgot. The biggest thing that happened during the weekend is that we switched to size 2 diapers :D how cool. He is getting bigger by the day.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well
stay tuned

3 Weeks Postpartum Update

Every time I start these update  posts I think I will be really good all week and do a post every day. But believe it or not, days just seem shorter these days. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day any more. And quite frankly I have so much to write about every day, but it would all be baby related because I don't find much time for myself any more. I'm sure it's bound to change but for now since Oscar is still so little and still needs A LOT of attention all the time, every minute is spend on him and I'm ok with that.

Today is actually the day when we are going to register him...eeek :) Then it will all be official. Funny thing about it all is that little O will have an English passport... I have an Estonian passport and D has a French one :D I'm sure travelling is going to be such fun :D

But back to this post...3 week update. Not a lot has changes with me to be honest. I haven't lost any more weight which I'm ok with as they do say the last few pounds are the hardest to get rid of. And it has only been 3 weeks. The other day I actually had a glimpse of my abs and I didn't think I will be able to see those for at least another 3 months so there is definitely progress.

There is an update on the dreaded stretch marks though. I have them now. I actually got them after the pregnancy and they are on my left boob (there might be some small ones on the right one as well, but I haven't found them yet). It's actually quite annoying and it happened with the engorgement. I'm not quite sure why but my left boob seems to produce more milk, so it gets filled a lot more. And it looks bigger as well, and when I say bigger it's probably a whole cup size bigger. I've tried to get my right one to produce more by pumping it more often, but it doesn't seem to work. I call it my lazy boob. Fortunately for me I only flash my boobs at home so no one else can see the marks :D
There is a lot of boob action all the time...still not confident enough to breastfeed in public though, but I'm sure if I'd need to I would. I'm actually sick of boobs. It all revolves around boobs these days lol.

The most important thing that has happened though in the last week is that O now sleeps longer during the night. So if we plan it right during the day I only have to wake up once a night now :)

I do the last feed with him at 12 am or at 1 am then change his diaper and put him in his sleepsuit. We don't give him a full bath every night (we'll try to do it every other night for now). In between those nights I usually just give him a quick wash in the sink after his last poo. He really enjoys water. He is super calm in the bath as well, which I was really worried about because I remember my little brother screaming his head off during his first baths  :D
But O just loves warm water :) We actually put a towel in the bath as well so it would be more comfy for him.

I make it sound like it's all really easy and to be honest apart from the fact that it all takes a lot of hours during the day it really is quite easy. The only hard part is when he starts fussing and he's been doing it a lot over the last couple of days. He just doesn't seem to want anything except to wiggle and fuzz :D And we just have to be ok with that because there is not much we can do about it. But it does get a bit annoying. And because he is sleeping more during the night he is now more awake during the day and the day time naps are shorter which we now have to get used to.

Little O also decided not to be so little any more :D He has grown out of all his newborn and 0-1 month clothes. The thing is that he is in that awkward phase where he can't fit into the smallest size but is still too small to fit into the bigger size. Fortunately Mothercare does a size that fits in between there (small baby, up to 10lbs), so I've had to buy a few outfits for him to get through the days.
Baby clothes sizes are stupid really. You have 0-3 moths, which means it's really for 3 month olds and then 3-6 months. And in between that you don't really have a lot of options :D I'm sure we'll survive though, even if I have to cut off the bottom parts of his little all-in-ones....his legs are really long :D

And that's about it for this weeks update. I'm sure I've forgotten to tell yo guys about loads of things but I can blame it on mommy brain now :)

This is what I look like 3 weeks post birth :)
I can finally close my jeans without struggle...anazing :D It feels weird to pull my trousers up now time to time as I walk around. I might even need a belt lol

Nothing wrong with a little selfie :D

Hope you enjoy my ''just woke up'' face and hair. And also the mess in the backgroun :D

And this is little Oscar, 3 weeks old in one of his new outfits. It's a two piece from Mothercare. And I love the fact that it has a hoodie, because none of the hats really fit his head :D He has changed so much. He came out looking like mini D, but he is definitely looking more like me now...I think. My grandma actually said that it's good luck for the sons to look like their mothers :)

Little scrunchie. He likes to curl up like this every time I try to take a photo :D

On that note I'm off to attend to my baby. And hopefully I will find time for more posts this week :)
Stay tuned, everyone :)
